About

  • Asmahan Ujub is a painter and visual artist whose work explores the quiet beauty of everyday life through observation. Working primarily with gouache paints alongside acrylic and other traditional mediums, she creates paintings inspired by ordinary moments, familiar faces, nature, and the ever changing qualities of light, inviting viewers to pause and see the world with fresh eyes.

Creating art since childhood, what began as a passion has grown into a lifelong way of understanding and expressing the world around her. Born and raised in Saudi Arabia she later moved to live in Somalia , and now living in Türkiye her experiences across different cultures have shaped the way she sees the world.

Alongside her painting practice she creates hand drawn animations that combine her love of filmmaking and sketching bringing the same emotions and narratives found in her paintings to life through movement. Rooted in traditional art, her practice is driven by curiosity, craftsmanship, and a lifelong passion for telling stories through images. She strives to approach each piece with the same sense of play, freedom, and wonder she experienced as a child, believing that creating with joy allows her work to remain honest and intuitive.
